Stewards of Change is a dynamic community-based organization dedicated to fostering sustainable development and positive social change. With a strong focus on environmental conservation, we strive to make a difference through education, empowerment, and collaboration.
Stewards of Change Community-Based Organization (SOC) is a vibrant, membership-driven initiative rooted in the local communities of Nyandarua County, Kenya. Established by visionary youth passionate about environmental conservation and climate action, SOC has expanded its scope to include diverse community members who align with its shared vision for sustainable development.
Registered under the Ministry of Labour, Social Security & Services with Registration Number CBO/051, SOC is a driving force for grassroots change, addressing poverty, inequality, and environmental challenges through innovative and inclusive programs that align with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Objectives
SOC’s objectives are designed to align with its vision and the SDGs:
- Community Organization: Establishing cohesive community groups to champion development and disseminate critical information (SDG 16: Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions).
- Empowerment for Livelihoods: Equipping communities with skills and resources to secure sustainable livelihoods and achieve economic empowerment (SDGs 1, 2, 8).
- Environmental Conservation: Promoting sustainable land, water, and forest management to protect ecosystems (SDGs 13, 15).
- Access to Education and Information: Enhancing technical and vocational skills among youth and improving access to vital information for informed decision-making (SDGs 4, 17).
- Human Rights Advocacy: Creating spaces for rights-based participation, ensuring equity and justice (SDGs 5, 10, 16).
- Networking and Partnerships: Collaborating with organizations to optimize resources and achieve collective goals (SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals).
- Resource Mobilization: Raising funds and mobilizing resources to support sustainable development initiatives.
- Good Governance: Promoting transparency, accountability, and community-driven monitoring of development programs (SDG 16).
